No concerts and events for almost a year now. No dancing with friends to the songs of your favorite bands. No parties or festivals. It feels like everything changed but sometimes there are things that remind me of how it used to be and about what music means and has always meant to me. Listening to new songs by artists I admire is one of these things and Aesthetic Perfection have been very reliable when it comes to this lately.
While the title Party Monster might suggest a positive and cheery tune the lyrics of the song tell a different story. It's all about losing yourself in parties and drugs in order to run away and forget what's actually go on in your mind. The things you might be unsatisfied with and that are not going the way you'd like them. Probably a theme everyone can relate to a bit and I most definitely can. This makes the song a very personal one to Daniel Graves which might be a reason why it turned out so good. As a contrast to the lyrics the instrumentals are rather upbeat and catchy and the song might stick with you after the first listen already. That's definitely what happened to me. It might even be one of my all time favorite Aesthetic Perfection songs so far. The band seems to be outdoing themselves while the pandemic lasts and i'm very grateful for this because in a way it gives me hope that some things will stay the same while everything changes.
